**Date:** Saturday, November 1, 2025
**Time:** 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
The thrilling clash between Rathangan AFC and Boys U15 (2011) Major 2 Blue concluded with an emphatic away win for the lads, maintaining their unbeaten streak in the league. With 7 matches under their belt, they sit comfortably at the top of the table, now leading by three points.
As the whistle blew for kickoff, the playing conditions were nearly perfect, though rain in the preceding days had left the pitch somewhat less than ideal. However, the players were unperturbed and quickly found their rhythm. Just five minutes in, Freddie unleashed a brilliant pass to Zsombor, who narrowly missed the target. Yet, the young star was not to be denied for long. At the ten-minute mark, Freddie struck again with another precision ball, and this time, Zsombor was on target, giving the away side a 1-0 lead!
The first half progressed with both teams alternating in possession and attempts, but it wasn’t until the 25th minute that the boys doubled their lead. A fantastic assist from Scott to Senan resulted in a neat finish to make it 2-0. Moments before half time, Fionn had a chance to extend the lead further but was unlucky to see his shot go just wide.
At halftime, due to the poor condition of the original pitch, a decision was made to switch to a different field. The change seemed to reinvigorate the lads as they resumed play with gusto. Just three minutes after the restart, a well-executed corner by Niko found Jamie, who scored with his first goal of the season! This goal was a testament to his hard work on the defensive line, proving that defenders can indeed find the scoresheet.
Only five minutes later, consistent pressure from the boys led to another goal. Senan delivered a superb pass to Cian, who finished clinically to extend the lead to 4-0. The boys were relentless, and it could have been five if not for a spectacular save from the Rathangan keeper following a long-range effort from Harry.
As the match approached its conclusion, Rathangan stepped up their game, putting pressure on the visitors. In a moment of misfortune, Sam was penalized for a foul in the box, resulting in a penalty for the home side. The penalty was expertly converted, concluding the match at 4-1.
With this victory, the team now has a three-point cushion over Kilcullen, who drew their match against Kilcock. The lads are set for a home game next Saturday against Newbridge United, where they will aim to build on their solid performance.
The teamโs hard work and dedication are clearly showing results, and they are taking it one game at a time! Keep up the momentum, lads!
