NAAS DROP POINTS IN DRAMATIC LATE COLLAPSE AT NEWBRIDGE!
Newbridge United 2–2 Naas AFC U16 Premier
KDUL Premier League | Thursday, 8 May 2026
Naas AFC’s U16 Premier side were in TOTAL CONTROL at Newbridge — and somehow came away with only a point. This was the story of their season in a nutshell: 60 minutes of the most fluent football you’ll see anywhere in Kildare, and 20 minutes of absolute madness.
Jack O’Brien — with 23 league goals to his name this season, and he’s not done yet — was at his devastating best. His first was pure instinct: arriving at the back post to slam Ned Keogh’s whipped cross over the keeper. His second was WORLD CLASS — catching the ball on his right shoulder, he unleashed a rocket into the top corner. Twenty-three goals. THE MAN IS ON FIRE.
Cian Leonard was the metronome in midfield. Jamie Byrne won every header. Daniel Oke commanded his defence like a general. Naas were 2–0 up and cruising.
But then — the collapse. Naas became passive. Newbridge sensed blood. They pulled one back out of nothing, and when Naas lost shape, the equaliser followed. A point secured, but two points DROPPED.
“We should have put the game to bed,” management admitted. The talent is there in abundance — if Naas find their killer instinct for the full 80 minutes, nobody will stop them.
