Cup Semi-Final — 11 May 2026
Naas AFC U15 Major 1 1 – 4 Kildare Town
Competition: Cup Semi-Final | Team: Boys U15 (2011) Major 1
IT’S OVER. A heartbreaking cup semi-final exit for Naas AFC’s U15 Major 1 side on Monday evening as a clinical Kildare Town outfit arrived at Naas, took control inside the first twelve minutes, and NEVER looked back in a 4-1 drubbing that will sting for a long time.
There’s no sugar-coating it. Kildare Town were RUTHLESS.
The visitors went about their business with grim efficiency from the first whistle. By the 12th minute, 0-1. By the 16th, 0-2. By the 34th — halftime barely a thought — it was 0-3 and the Naas heads were starting to drop. Three goals in the opening thirty-four minutes. THREE. The Blues barely had time to catch their breath before the knockout blows rained in.
The second half offered brief hope. Kildare Town made it FOUR on 50 minutes — a gut-punch to any lingering thoughts of a comeback — but then, finally, Naas found the net. SEAN SAVAGE, a battler to the last, pulled one back with a composed finish, the assist courtesy of the industrious RUAIRI MCFADDEN. The Naas faithful on the sideline erupted — but deep down everyone knew it was too little, too late.
1-4 the final whistle blew. The cup run is over.
This is a Naas U15 Major 1 side that had already shown genuine quality this season — including a famous 3-1 cup semi-final win over Coill Dubh just six days earlier. But on the night, Kildare Town were simply better, quicker, more clinical. It happens in knockout football. It HURTS, but it happens.
Hats off to Sean Savage for not giving up. Hats off to Ruairi McFadden for the assist when it mattered. Now dust yourselves off, lads — league football waits for no one.
