Boys U13 (2013) Premier 0:0 Tournament<\/strong><\/p>\n

Date: 2 Aug<\/em><\/p>\n

The Opening<\/h3>\n

A selection of players from our 2013 Group set off to Newbridge early on Saturday morning to participate in the inaugural Newbridge United Invitational Tournament.<\/p>\n

it was a four team event with Newbridge United ,the hosts, welcoming ourselves, Monasterevin and Allenwood along. The event was really well run with a BBQ for the kids as well as a team trophy and individual prizes for performance and goal scoring.<\/p>\n

The Action<\/h3>\n

The format was 30 minute games with each team playing each other in a league format, then 1st vs 4th. 2nd vs 4th in two semi finals with the winners playing the final. The aim is to give kids as much game time as possible in pre season as they get used to 11v11 with full size pitches and goals.<\/p>\n

Naas started slowly with a 3-0 loss to Newbridge although the game was closer than the scoreline suggested. We followed that with a narrow 2-1 defeat to Monasterevin, missing a late penalty that would have given us a deserved draw. We clicked into gear against Allenwood and ran out 2-0 winners but could have easily been more. This lined up a semi final with Monasterevin where Naas ran out comfortable 3-0 winners. Newbridge United defeated Allenwood on pens in the other semi final meant we would finish with a final against the hosts, Newbridge United. We were a different team this time around and won at a canter by 2 goals to nil.<\/p>\n

The Finish<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s a great confidence lift for this group and a platform for them all to go into the season with a trophy. Hopefully the first of a few more in the season ahead.<\/p>\n
