In an exhilarating clash, the Naas U14 girls showcased their fighting spirit against a dominant Athy side, resulting in a close scoreline of 3-2. The first half proved to be a tense affair, with both teams struggling to penetrate the opposition’s defenses. Our courageous Naas backline, featuring stalwarts Pippa, Olivia, Raluca, and Amy, stood tall as they absorbed waves of Athy pressure.

As the half approached its end, goalkeeper Perry pulled off a crucial one-on-one save that kept the score locked at zero. However, just before the whistle, Athy struck first with a perfectly executed through ball, taking a 1-0 lead into the break.

The second half saw Athy capitalize on their momentum, netting two quick goals and widening the gap to 3-0. Yet, Naas was not finished. Demonstrating resilience, Ellie May delivered a stunning strike, giving us a glimpse of hope as she pulled one back for the team. Perry continued to shine in goal, denying Athy once more with yet another remarkable save from a free kick.

With time dwindling, Coaimhe found the net for Naas, bringing the score to 3-2 with five minutes remaining and setting the stage for a nail-biting finish. The final moments were electric, with Naas pushing hard for an equalizer, but despite their relentless effort, fortune did not favor them, and they narrowly missed out on claiming a well-deserved point.

The match concluded with a heart-stopping score of Athy 3 โ€“ 2 Naas. A commendable performance from our U14 girls, proving they are a force to be reckoned with in their league.
