Survey the Scene / Ensure Safety

  • Ensure the area is safe for yourself and others. Check for immediate hazards like traffic, equipment or other dangers.

Alert Emergency Services (EMS)

  • Dial 999 or 112 and request an ambulance for a cardiac emergency.
  • Specify that you are located at Naas AFC, Naas Sports Centre, and provide the exact location within the grounds for faster access.
  • Remain on the line and follow any instructions provided by EMS dispatch.

Fetch the AED and First Responders

  • Contact Naas Sports Centre Reception and request a First Responder and the AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
  • AED Location: On the wall opposite the reception desk in Naas Sports Centre.
  • Designated Trained Responders: Naas Sports Centre staff are trained in AED use and CPR.
  • Note: Ideally, only trained personnel should use the AED. However, if trained personnel are not available, follow the AED’s step-by-step audio instructions.

Engage in CPR and AED Use

  • CPR Procedure:
    • Start chest compressions immediately while waiting for trained help or the AED.
    • Place hands in the center of the chest, pressing down firmly and quickly at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute.
    • Follow instructions from the EMS dispatcher if available.
  • Use of the AED:
    • If a trained responder is present, they should operate the AED.
    • In the absence of trained personnel, anyone may follow the AED’s audio instructions:
      • Turn on the AED and follow the prompts.
      • Attach pads to the patient’s bare chest as illustrated on the AED pads.
      • Stand clear and press the shock button if advised by the AED.
      • Continue to follow AED prompts, alternating with CPR as directed until the patient shows signs of recovery or EMS arrives.
