Fionn Shines As Gutsy Naas Fall Short
Naas AFC U16 Major 1 were left wondering what might have been after a 7–1 defeat away to BBC United, despite a hugely encouraging first-half showing.
Cian Smith pounced in the opening ten minutes — Freddie’s thunderbolt from outside the box had the keeper spilling it — to hand Naas an early lead. For long spells the sides looked inseparable, with Naas carving out chances through the middle.
But injuries to Natanem and Joaquin stung, and six of the seven goals came from little errors at the back — nothing that can’t be fixed. Player of the match Fionn epitomised the effort, chasing everything in attack and defence.
