Reds down United to land their fizzy payoff
Naas AFC U12 Reds wrapped up their season with a swagger, seeing off neighbours Naas United 3-1 in a derby that carried a reward sweeter than any silverware — a tray of full-fat Coca-Cola, straight from the gaffer.
With the squad down to the bare minimum, the Reds locked in and took control early. Jamie Harford pulled the strings in the middle while Logan Bough led the line, and it was that dynamic duo who broke the deadlock — Jamie’s mazy run ending with a square ball that Logan buried from a few yards out.
Five minutes later the roles flipped. Logan’s pinpoint pass sent Jamie clean through, and the livewire star had no trouble beating both defender and keeper to make it 2-0 before the break.
United refused to lie down and cut the gap with a headed goal from a corner straight after the restart. But just as nerves crept in, up stepped Adi Murthy to smash a daisy-cutter home after a John Healy throw, restoring the two-goal cushion and sealing a deserved derby win.
