TOUGH AFTERNOON FOR NAAS AS CLINICAL MOONE TAKE THE POINTS
Boys U15 (2012) Major 1 – Moone Celtic
Our first game of the new season saw us travel to last year‘s runners up Moone Celtic, we started brightly and nearly took an early lead when a chance rolled to Luke who returned it from 30 yards but his efforts hit the top of the crossbar. This seemed to spark Moone to life and they piled on the pressure and they turned this into the opening goal on 10 minutes. A second quickly followed when the ref failed to give a fail throw and we failed to defend it and 2-0 became 3-0 when we were hit on the counter attack. For the final 10 minutes of the half, we found our composure and started to play some nice football. Rhys went close with one effort and Frank saw a fierce shot saved well by the Moone keeper. On the half hour mark we got a deserve goal when Frank sent a cross in and Davin brought it down and finished nicely in the bottom corner. The second half followed the same pattern as the first, we started well and had Moone on the back foot, Frank was sent through by Davin but defender got back and fouled him. Lukes resulting freekick was saved by the keeper. Fionn F latched on so long pass from Noah but his shot was saved. Moone then scored two quick goals which was hard to take but we responded well and when Fionn F was fouled Frank stuck the penalty away into the top corner. We then conceded three goals in the final 8 minutes as our heads dropped and we tired mentally. Moone are a good team and we now know what will be needed at this level, overall we played well in patches, but we are disappointed with the result. Player of the match was Davin.
