In a nail-biting clash on Friday night, Naas AFC’s U12 Major team showcased their exceptional talents against Moone Celtic’s unbeaten league leaders, delivering arguably their best performance of the season.

A Display of Effort and Skill

The game reflected the team’s continuous growth and determination throughout the season, highlighted by a relentless 60-minute effort that left fans in awe. With every player pushing their limits, they covered every inch of the pitch with energy that was truly off the charts.

In goal, Lauren O’Reilly was a standout, pulling off phenomenal saves against a formidable Moone Celtic side. The defense was equally impressive, led by Alex Brereton who expertly shielded the goal.

A defining moment came late in the first half when Ava Haberlin sprinted back to clear a certain goal as Moone looked poised to score. This moment encapsulated the spirit of the Naas team—one of grit and unwavering commitment.

The midfielders displayed remarkable versatility, covering ground tirelessly, while Aoife Flanagan was a constant threat up front. Her pace and skill proved to be a persistent headache for the Celtic defense.

Second Half

Despite finding themselves two goals down after the opening quarter, Naas dominated substantial parts of the second half. They spread the ball well from the back and applied pressure when out of possession. The cohesiveness of their team moves was a testament to their hard work in practice.

Naas managed to maintain their structure and strategy even after making five changes at halftime. The only thing they were missing was a goal, which their efforts certainly warranted.

Naas AFC Squad: Lauren O’Reilly, Chloe O’Brien, Alex Brereton, Ava Haberlin, Cora Morgan (Captain), Alanna Jane Leydon, Katie Malone, Evie Dodd, Aoife Flanagan, Alana Fossland, Abbygail O’Connor, Ava Hartigan, Layla Drewitt, Yuna Cahill.
