SUCCESS FROM THE START

Naas AFC was founded in 1990 by Christine Dolly with a simple but powerful idea: unite the estate teams of Naas into one club. Before that, neighbourhoods fielded their own sides in local street leagues. Christine brought them together, entering the new club in the DDSL. Today, Naas AFC competes in the KDUL and is the largest club in the league.

AWARDS

With over 900 juvenile and 100 adult members across 30+ teams, Naas AFC regularly brings home league titles, cups, and shields. Success at the club isn’t measured in trophies alone β€” but they’re a welcome reflection of the work our players and coaches put in.

The Action

In its first season, the club’s Under-13 team won the DDSL trophy β€” a statement of intent that set the tone for decades of competitive football.

ACADEMY

The Academy welcomes boys and girls aged 5–8 every Sunday morning. It’s where young players discover the basics of football β€” skills and friendships that stay with them throughout their journey in the game.

NAAS AFC FOUNDED

Local Naas woman Christine Dolly had a vision: bring the town’s scattered estate teams under one banner. She founded Naas AFC and secured pitches on Caragh Road β€” a ground the club still calls home more than 35 years later.

COVID CHALLENGES

When COVID-19 hit in 2020, Naas AFC β€” like clubs across the country β€” faced an existential challenge. Membership dropped and training stopped. But when restrictions lifted in 2022, numbers surged to nearly 1,000 players. That rapid growth brought its own challenge: recruiting and training enough volunteer coaches to meet the demand.

NEW MEMBERS

Grant funding helped the club invest in facilities, coaching courses, and equipment β€” supporting a period of record growth that continues today.

FIELDS LOCATION

The Finish

Naas AFC plays its football at Naas Sports Centre β€” three full-size grass pitches, a 7-a-side pitch, a 9-a-side pitch, and dedicated all-weather training areas that keep players on the ball year round.

CHAMPIONS

At Naas AFC, success means more than silverware. Watching young players grow in confidence, make lifelong friends, and fall in love with the game β€” that’s what drives our coaches. A player who feels supported and challenged will always give their best.
