Boys U16 (2010) Major 6:1 Kilcock Celtic

Date: 22 Nov

First Half

Nice sunny afternoon in kerdiffstown park for our 4th game of the season. Sadly kilcock could only field 10 and we did the same to be fair .

This gave a major headache on the bench .

Also had a replacement keeper Gavin Beirne stepping in for Morgan Begley who’s out sick.

1st half we began as always very sluggish and pedestrian from both teams . We had plenty of possession with no cutting edge .

Oisin Kemple and Sean Haugh came closest to opening the scoring.

After 20 mins a Change of formation to a back 3 and Filip Frackowiak back from injury coming in , seen us breaking the deadlock eventually

Free kick from Oisin kemple and Filip getting on the end of it to score the first.

2nd came soon after with Filip Frackowiak getting through the defenders and around the keeper to score his 2nd of the day .

Second Half

We then had a lapse of concentration at the back with a wayward pass found a kilcock player at the edge of the box who lobbed Gavin at the back post . 2-1 giving kilcock optimism and fight heading in at the break.

Kilcock came out with their tails up and the 10 players of Naas did not react to the half time talk , with their number 6 having far too much freedom. So Conor Clerkin sent back on to contain that threat. Did so brilliantly which seen the game open up in favour of Naas with Filip rounding the keeper for his 3rd goal. Hat trick Filip and Naas back in control .

Next goal followed soon with wonderful solo run from Mateusz Nowocien through a number of players and unselfishly squared for Conor McNally to score.

Then a beautifully taken corner from Mateusz with Conor Clerkin rising highest in the box connecting with a great header in the top corner with the 5th for Naas .

Last goal came from smashing run from Oisin Kemple whose hard work paid off with a brilliantly finished goal after great ball control from Oisin , who was unplayable at times in this match .

Great to have Filip and Donncha back from injury in the team , with Donncha working great for the team up. Down the right side and was unlucky not to find the net in this match.

Back line of Xabi Gray , Jan Wojciechowski, Sean O’Reilly &Tom Hobbins all had solid games with great link up play with Gavin in goal . Lads are working as a great unit every game . Gavin Beirne with an excellent performance in goal and you would think it was his regular position with the great catches and decision making .

Need more drive and work from players in the midfield and upfront if all could take lead from Conor Clerkin’s drive. Desire to win possession and continue the press at all times , we would be flying.

Well done today lads with our goal scoring issue of last year well behind us , let’s build on that and start winning with confidence.
