Rathangan AFC vs Boys U15 (2011) Major 2 Blue

Date: 1 Nov

First Half

An away win for the lads continues our unbeaten run at the league. With 7 games played, we stay top by 3 points.

Second Half

The conditions for the game by kick off were near perfect, The rain over the previous couple of days had left the pitch in not great shape! But the lads got stuck in from kick off and within 5 minutes Freddie put a great ball through to Zsombor, who hit it just wide of the target, He got his rewards at the 10 minute mark with another great pass from Freddie and this time Zsombor hit the net, and we were up 0:1. The game went through a 15 minute phase of up/down play from both sides. It wasn’t until Scott fed a great ball through to Senan to put us 0:2 up at the 25 minute mark. And just at half time Fionn was unlucky to put the ball just wide of the net after another great ball from Freddie!

As the pitch was not in great condition a decision was made at half time to move to a different pitch. The lads were not put off and re-focused straight off the whistle with a well taken corner by Niko 3 minutes in which saw Jamie hitting the back of the net with his first goal of the season! A great reward for Jamie who has defended so well all season with the rest of the back 4, Showing that defenders are well able to score as well! 5 minutes later with the lads putting constant pressure on the Rathangan defence, Senan passed a great ball through to Cian who made no mistake hitting the target, a well deserved 0:4 score line. It could have been 5 with a well taken long range shot from Harry saved by the keeper!
3 minutes from the end Rathangan had put the lads under pressure, with Sam unfortunately taking down a player in the box. The referee awarded a penalty that was well taken and the match ended 1:4.

We now hold a 3 point advantage and level on games played to second placed Kilcullen, who drew at home today against Kilcock. Next Saturday will be a home game v Newbridge united.

The lads are doing really well and the hard work is paying off, one game at a time!
