Boys U11 (2015) Blue 1:4 Rathangan AFC

Date: 17 May

First Half

Tough encounter against a strong Rathangan side on a sunny morning at Caragh Road.

They started the brighter of the two sides and after some defensive disorganisation we found ourselves two goals down.

Rathangan were getting the better of us in challenges across the pitch.

Second Half

Second half we improved in terms of possession and territory but Rathangan were dangerous on the break and at times our defence lived dangerously. We coughed up two more goals but credit to the lads, they never dropped their heads and kept plugging away.

Seb had a couple of shots that just missed the target that on another day could have gone in.

Close to the final whistle we got a free inside their half on the right hand side about 20 yards out. Freddie blasted the ball high towards goal and it looped over their keepers head and into the net for his first goal of the season.

A nice positive note to finish on and the lads can be very proud of the way that they never gave up. Nonetheless it was our first taste of defeat this season and the lads will learn plenty from it.

Onward we go to play our return leg against Clane United next week at home. Our Green team lost to them today so we expect another very tough encounter!!
