Boys U14 Clash: Naas Seizes Dramatic Victory Over Dunlavin

Match Report – Thursday, 1 May 2025, 19:30

Venue: Naas Sports Complex

This was a game of football clichés. Naas controlled the game. They took a two goal lead into the second half. A dangerous lead, they say, and indeed they were right. Dunlavin sprang into action, attacking fiercely and managing to score twice. Suddenly, Naas looked vulnerable.

Except for Nikodem Dziabor. He was fearless and refusing to accept any hint of collapse. Having been instrumental in Naas’ dominance throughout the first half, he made sure his efforts weren’t in vain.

In a stunning moment, as a last-ditch corner fell to his feet on the edge of the box, he did not even need a moment to look up. He knew the goal was waiting for him. And as he struck the ball with confidence, it soared into the roof of the net! A last gasp winner! It was the type of moment where everyone in the stadium sensed it was destined for the back of the net. Even the Dunlavin players sensed it.

Victory snatched from the jaws of, well, a draw but it felt more like a defeat for Naas until that glorious moment. Credit to Nikodem for not just hoping for the best but refusing to settle for anything less than triumph.

The better team won, but let the record show: 2-0 is indeed a dangerous lead.

Another cliché comes to mind: Football clichéd, indeed!
