Boys U16 (2010) Major 0:8 Allenwood Celtic

Date: 10 Jan

The Opening

Delighted to be back playing games straight after the break , after having so few matches this season but delight was short lived.

Nice afternoon for a game in kerdiffstown park in perfect conditions and I was very optimistic with a full squad to pick from .

Straight from the off, a lovely ball from Oisin Kemple puts Filip Frackowiak through 1&1 with the keeper who goes in hard and makes the block but the clearance goes right past our defence and forward is quicker than our keeper who is slow to react , we go 1-0 down very early.

We keep in the game but just as Naas play is slow and lethargic, with the exception of Tom Hobbins and Alex Nelson with some nice play down the left .
Allenwood we’re focused on getting balls down their left w
ith Sean O’Reilly having his hands full with their tricky winger.

Then after a number of poor corners, allenwood sent one into the box , Keeper nowhere to be seen and free header 2-0.

We came in at the break still with the hope of pulling this one back

The Action

But after the break we continued looking a little stronger until the third was snatched

by Allenwood and we completely crumbled .

What followed was no press from any players and every shot hit the net , it was very difficult to watch .
5 very stoppable goals f
ollowed and the lads really didn’t make any sort of attempt to stop the Rot

throughout the team, everyone gave in .

Leaving the coaches and players all deflated and shocked with what just happened.

#Hats off to the ref Anthony Graham really great game by him

The Finish

#Also Allenwood showed great desire and organisation and with a few quality players brushed a sorry looking Naas team aside .

#We have great belief in the quality of this Naas team

What we can’t predict or seem to effect, is the effort or desire the players bring to the game , this been the first time I feel all the lads collectively threw in the towel and this is very hard to see, as we give up a lot of time for the lads to put in a performance like this .

#I don’t judge the lads on this game only and hope it was a one off. Hopefully they have the character to come back and prove themselves after this game.

#Really poor all round obviously but I will give praise to

Alex Nelson , Tom Hobbins for good work rate and Gavin Beirne for stepping in goal when asked, fair play.

We must try and get our heads up and show fight to recover from such a loss
