First Half

Naas Blue Start Strong with Dominant Win Over Coill Dubh

Naas Blue began their final season of non‑competitive football —. Their last campaign of 7‑a‑side — in style, running out 9–1 winners away to Coill Dubh in the newly named KDUL Green Division. This top‑flight grouping replaces the old “Premier” and “Major” labels, with Naas competing at the highest level for their age group. Next season will see the team move up to U12, beginning their first competitive 9‑a‑side season.

Second Half

Conditions were cold and windy on Saturday morning, with the strong breeze making long passes tricky to control. Playing with the wind in the first half, Naas took some time to settle but soon found their rhythm. Oisín opened the scoring from Faniel’s clever pass, before Coill Dubh equalised from a corner. A Rory cross then forced an own goal to reclaim the lead before halftime.

The second half showcased Naas’s fluid attacking football. The highlight came when Rory and Oisín combined brilliantly with a slick one‑two that sliced through the defence, Rory calmly finishing to make it 3–1. From there, Naas were rampant — Oisín added four more goals, Patrick and Finn also found the net, Finn’s long‑range strike into the top corner was a goal‑of‑the‑season contender. Patrick’s creative play was a standout feature, providing three assists and contributing to the team’s best moves.

There were also impressive debuts from Ben, Patrick, and Rory, each settling quickly and showing confidence and composure. In goal, Tadhg will no doubt face busier days this season, but he demonstrated his skill and concentration when called upon. The defence, marshalled effectively by Ben, Freddie Michael and Finn, performed with great shape, communication, and awareness. In midfield, Charlie and Fionn worked tirelessly, with the latter’s day cut short by an unfortunate ankle injury after a strong start.

Coill Dubh, who had merged their two teams into one large squad this year, fielded three rotating line‑ups of mixed ability. That imbalance was reflected in the scoreline, but it doesn’t detract from Naas’s disciplined and polished performance. Every player contributed to a confident 9–1 victory — a promising start to what looks like an exciting final season of 7‑a‑side football.
