Match Report: U14 Girls – Naas vs Athy

Second Half

Naas U14 girls put in a determined performance against a strong Athy side in a closely contested match. The first half was a defensive battle, with the Naas back line of Pippa, Olivia, Raluca, and Amy holding firm under pressure. Goalkeeper Perry pulled off a crucial one-on-one save with five minutes to go before the break, keeping the score at 0-0. However, just before half-time, Athy broke through with a well-placed through ball to take a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Perry continued to impress with another key save, and the defence stayed compact. Despite their efforts, Athy found space to score two quick goals, extending their lead to 3-0.

Naas responded with determination. Ellie May pulled one back with a brilliant finish, sparking hope of a comeback. Perry denied Athy again with a fine save from a free kick, Coaminhe added a second goal for Naas with five minutes left, setting up a tense finish.

Despite a strong push in the closing stages, Naas were unlucky not to come away with a point. Final score: Athy 3 – 2 Naas.
