The match began with both teams playing very tactically, which led to few clear scoring chances early on. However, our team appeared slightly more threatening in attack. In the second half, we finally broke the deadlock when Freddie scored from a free kick about 18 meters out, awarded after Nico was fouled. Shortly after the first free-kick goal, we earned another free kick following a foul on Senan. Freddie stepped up again to take it, but this time the goalkeeper made the save and denied us a second goal from a set piece. Shortly after, Fionn doubled our lead with a well-placed finish. The opposition responded by increasing the pressure, and during a chaotic corner, they managed to score—though it seemed clearly offside, the referee allowed the goal. Following that, we adopted a more defensive approach and looked to strike on the counter. Nico, Zsombor, and Senan all had chances to extend our lead but couldn’t convert. In the final minutes, the other team maintained heavy pressure and ultimately equalized, ending the match in a draw.
It was a good performance from the lads after all.
