First Half

A Match of Missed Opportunities and Missed Tackles

On a perfect morning for football, Naas U13 M1 kicked off their first home fixture of the season with high hopes after a strong week of training.

However, things didn’t go to plan as they fell to a heavy 6-0 defeat against a sharp Kilcock United side.

It was expected that Naas would start confidently, A slow opening combined with a lack of communication and some basic defensive errors allowed Kilcock to take control early.

Second Half

The visitors were clinical in front of goal, racing into a 4-0 lead by half time, leaving Naas with a mountain to climb.

The second half saw a much-improved performance from the home side. Strong tackles at the back gave the midfield and forwards a platform to push forward and create chances. Mustafa Mahmoud, Robbie O’Rourke, and Adam Zawierucha all came close, but a combination of the crossbar and excellent goalkeeping denied Naas a much-deserved goal.

Just as Naas looked to be building momentum, another defensive slip. A stunning free kick—one that wouldn’t look out of place on a Lionel Messi highlight reel—sealed the result for Kilcock.

It was a tough day at the office for the Naas lads, but the focus now turns to next week. Lessons will be learned, and with the right mindset, the team will be ready to go again.
