Boys U16 (2010) Premier 7:0 RATHANGAN

Date: 3 Sep

The Opening

#Match abandoned at half time due to fading light##

An interesting start of the season for the lads. Ref late by 40 minutes, flood lights not working, phone calls to KDUL to find out the rules, The ref saying he gets paid regardless as he needs the cash for Vegas next week!!!

Under instruction from KDUL, the ref was ordered to start the match knowing full well we would not complete the match, if not, both teams would lose the points.

The Action

After a slow start with Naas dominating possession and territory, Adam Bracken ghosted past a couple of players to hit a left foot drive, Took a slight deflection to hit the back of the net. The goal really settled the lads, and Naas began to push on and play some lovely football. Ned Keogh added a rapid brace, showing pace and power, to find the net in his new role up top.

Naas were completely on top now, and the 4th came quickly. From an Adam Bracken corner, ball was not cleared and Max Galvin was on hand to smash the ball into the net.

A typical strong run from Tadgh O Neill bursting through the midfield resulted in the 5th, with Tadgh striking the ball into the bottom corner.

The Finish

The 6th and 7th were not long coming with Oisin Lynch on hand to tap in the 6th from close range after Rathangan failed to deal with a corner. The 7th goal was the goal of the night, with a lovely passing move featuring Ben Harrington, Adam Bracken. Sean Stafford, who fed the ball into Aaron O Donnell, who turned on the edge of the box, and stroked the ball into the bottom corner.

Ref blew for half time and then called off the match. Match will have to be replayed in full.

Disappointing for the lads but they got 40 minutes into their legs ahead of this weekends match against our biggest rivals Kilcullen. Already looks like a 6 pointer!!!

Best for Naas in the night, Ben Harrington and Fred Cowdell at the back, Adam Bracken stood out in midfield. Excellent cameos from Aaron O Donnell and Oisin Lynch.
