Boys U17 (2009) Major 4:3 Opponent

Date: 11 Oct

The Opening

Sorry all, but an absolute roller coaster game that lived up to it’s local derby tradition, means Match Report that’s embarrassingly short of detail because the coach was too busy coaching to take in every single nuance 🤦🏻‍♂️

So purely reproducing the note sent to parents and guardians this morning, complete with too many emoji’s!

Great to see us off bottom of table, it’s been annoying me for weeks since our win against BBC was voided (after they dropped back to Major 1)

I think a League record as well yesterday, Tadhg Keane on his return opening the scoring on 15 seconds.

Gary Wisely keeping us in the game especially with a stunning save in final minutes to secure the win.

The Action

Sean O’Donnell taking to the pitch again and showing no signs of ever being away.

Callum Coffey, who’s calmness and ability to always be in the right place!

Ross Wheeler again cajoling and controlling those around him, more importantly last night told me his legs were sore but still attached where they should be 😉

Adam Donoghue chasing every ball and in his head saying “1,2,3 pass” 🙌🏼

Liam Mescal who’s ability to glance up and spot the pass or unleash unstoppable shots 😱

The Finish

Every player on that 16 player squad, including a bench that had to come on as a physical game took its toll, often out of their normal position who ran on without complaint and put in 110%!

We did make hard work of it though, quite apparent the lads were rusty and not used to playing together – in fairness we’ve had low training attendance – TY trips, illness, injuries, other sport obligations*. I believe anyone watching yesterday saw the very strong foundations of a very, very good team.

I’d ask you to encourage players to attend at minimum one/two trainings per week AND register on SportsMember for same to allow us plan and coordinate realistic sessions.

*Absolutely no issue with this, as means they are training and learning teamwork to our benefit.

2 GAMES – 4th in the League 🙌🏼
